This project started with a common issue: the kitchen had peeling and bubbling thermofoil doors that were starting to fail both visually and functionally. The homeowners loved their farmhouse aesthetic and wanted a solution that would feel bright, timeless, and coordinated across the kitchen, basement wet bar, and laundry areas—without the disruption of a full cabinet replacement.
We began by working with the existing cabinet boxes in the kitchen and basement, replacing the doors and drawer fronts to create a cohesive farmhouse look. In the main kitchen and basement wet bar, we installed new Shaker‑style doors finished in Frosty White, a crisp, clean color that instantly freshened the space and provided a neutral backdrop for their décor, hardware, and countertops. In the adjacent laundry room, we introduced warmth and texture by using weathered natural oak doors with a white glaze finish, giving that space a softer, farmhouse‑inspired character that still ties back to the rest of the home.
To enhance the overall look and add another layer of style, we replaced the basement wet bar countertop with a butcher block top in a pickled finish. This lighter, more character‑rich surface not only complements the white Shaker doors but also reinforces the farmhouse feel, making the lower level more inviting for everyday use and entertaining.
Inside the cabinets, we focused on long‑term durability and everyday convenience. We removed the original builder‑grade drawer boxes and installed new solid wood dovetail drawers paired with undermount soft‑close glides, giving the homeowners smoother operation, higher weight capacity, and a more premium feel. To improve access and organization, we added adjustable roll‑out trays in key base cabinets so items stored in the back can be reached easily without bending or stretching. We also incorporated additional drawers where it made sense for better storage of utensils, linens, and small appliances.
Finally, we installed a double pull‑out trash cabinet, providing dedicated, hidden spaces for trash and recycling while keeping the kitchen visually clean and clutter‑free. Together, these updates not only resolved the failing thermofoil doors, but also created a coordinated, farmhouse‑inspired look across multiple rooms, with modern functionality built into every cabinet.
